In this space, we all love blog fights, I mean, what could be more fun! The bloodier, the better!Β  So, The Free-quent Flyer attacks the Frequent Miler about his post about earning and burning. I usually skip valuation posts, they bore me to pieces. Here is what TBB says in his infinite wisdom: “Do not let others define success for you. Burn your miles the way it pleases YOU”.

50 Places Everyone Must Visit in Europe. Cheesy questions bloggers will ask here: “Which ones are your favorites?” or “How many have you visited?’. Don’t fall for it, it’s an attempt to engage you and then pump you with some plastic affiliate links. Hehe, can’t help it. Fight back, use mine! LOL

Walk across the 613-year-old Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic.
Charles Bridge in Prague. I was there in 1987 and I loved it. Highly recommended but I hear it is not as cheap as it used to be before the Iron Curtain fell. No, it did not involve a CIA mission hehe.

And I leave you with this…

  2. I was in Prague in 1987. There was some big communist meeting in Prague so we stayed in Plzen. The hotel toilet paper was like sandwich wrap paper. I have never complained about toilet paper since that day. We had watched the Holocaust mini series (TV) and wanted to see paintings from Theresienstadt. Remarkably fewer tourists there in 87 compared to my visit in 94. We squeezed in a trip to Salzburg (Sound of music) and a visit to Hitler’s Eagle’s nest at Berchtesgaden.
Sad to say, the Czech republic has yet to change their system. There is no Hyatt!
At least Berchtesgaden has an Intercontinental.

      1. Kempinski is a wholly owned subsidiary of Intercontinental but still operates its own loyalty program

    1. I LOVED Prague in 1987. College travel study European tour. Bunch of college students with jeans, one looked like Van Halen dude, we walked into a Russian restaurant, all dressed with suits and ties and had a super amazing dinner for less than $10 each, Then I remember getting four kielbasa types sandwiches for less than $1 USD on the street and they were delicious.
I have never made it to the Berchtesgaden IC yet, so sad. Been to Salzburg and Dresden too.

      1. Unless you are ready to pay 500e+ a night. You might not be ready for that Berchtesgaden property

  3. Probably a reflection of the overall ennui in the space, but I find Free-quent Flyer’s posts increasingly boring. Unlike most of the Saverocity bloggers, who only post when they have something or substance to say (Kenny is exhibit A), FF is writing more and saying less. And the way he says it..mama mia! Ponderous, wordy, no flow–you get the drift. He’d benefit from learning the succinct, rapier sharp humor featured at TBB!

    1. I think Free-quent flyer offers an alternative perspective on a lot of issues, just like Drew does. He’s basically Joey Knish from Rounders. A grinder, MS’ing on his flexperks for travel a few hundred miles up the coast rather than inspirational destinations. However, he did sell me on usefulness of MS on that card…

  4. BUZZ YOU WILL JUST LOVE THIS……Pointchaser, who last week pretty much outed the $500 Officemax?Visa opportunity (try finding VGC’s there now, good luck), says she does not even have an Ink Card. WTF!……………………I’m putting an Italian Curse out right now.

  5. No long shot for me on the Amex 10k, just an easy lay up with email invites for both my wife and me. Like finding $300-400 on the sidewalk (or at least a $20 bill).

Best bennie though is it buys me at least a year off from my wife’s wisecracks about not cleaning out my in-box. Well, a couple of weeks, anyway.

  6. Need your help here Buzz. I just realized that Pointchaser is Arianna, who used to write for FTG. When did she spin-off? Is spin-off corporate speak for wise-up?

    1. Been about a year since she left I think. I need to flood my posts with internal links, hardly have time for one here and there as I am always on the hunt for entertaining, educational and inspiring stuff πŸ™‚

  7. Got busy yesterday and just remembered now to log in. What a lot of interesting comments, best ever !

I’ll have to go explore all this cryptic gossipy stuff mentioned above. I don’t really read much else apart from FT Premium Fare Deals. BTW some guy posted there that he got AA Platinum status for a trip to PR in Business Class for ~$750. Which I don’t really understand.

OK now to read up on the internet feuding !

    1. I am pretty sure that was due to enrolling in an AA elite challenge to make Platinum. I had it featured here a while back.

If you go back a year or two, find some posts with over 100 comments with me and the founder of Frugal Travel Guy going back and forth. Free entertainment. Hope he comes back to take some shots against me, breaks the monotony lol.
