But getting someone new and then blogging all about it to show “friends and family” how to travel for free and how you can do it too….really gets on my nerves. To newbies: It’s not a really big deal, there are so many sites out there now with amateurs ruining The Hobby. Serenity now…repeatedly!

(I wasn’t done, just wanted to submit in case someone beat me for first. It has happened.)
I want to clarify something you’ve been getting a bee in your bonnet about: asking questions at the end of blog posts. While it can be a tactic, a few of us genuinely want to know what our readers are thinking.
That is all.
Maybe that’s the case for you. For the punters, it’s a cheap way to generate comments and pretend they give a crap about what the commenters have to say.

The part where he says “I’ve flown on other airlines’ First Class seats before” – just doesn’t go with his reaction to the lounges, the service, the gate experience, etc. 🙂 Unless it was domestic first class, of course!
Well he must have been on a ton of first class flights because he has that extensive trip report collection of…oh…just that trip.

@David – As a blogger who has written about it, I don’t apologize for teaching others about this. This was not some loophole or “secret” redemption method. It was a published award redemption method. Not only that, but look at what British Airways has done as of late. Not only did they make a devaluation this year that left the economy option alone but they have the most lucrative credit card offer out there in pure bonus numbers – 100,000 points!
It was just like Delta – by putting so many miles/points in play, they had to make adjustments. Am I happy with it? Absolutely not! Did anyone NOT expect this to happen at some point? Only if they didn’t know about the history of miles and points.
I agree with Charlie, 4,500-Avios flights were too good to last, especially given that BA is a UR transfer partners. Though the CLT-NYC deal will also be mourned by me as well.

Bloggers rarely “teach” readers about point inflation. I have yet to see inflation incorporated in the sales message.
Frankly, I can’t believe this lasted so long! And I think it was AA’s Parker who forced the issue…
Bloggers get compensated very well per credit card app. I know when I compare it to my Amazon revenue lol. One old Titan has been once said: “It’s all about conversions”.
I am going to be the only one advocating it is time to find a new hobby 🙂

It is starting to feel like death by a thousand cuts, one each day #weep

It just doesn’t feel that way.
This was my most often used award. I am stuck (again) with way too many of these, hate when that happens!
It’s 7,500 Avios, still nothing! And no tax! And no close-in fees.
When you’re next quoted $200 for NYC-BOS with 48 hours notice, you’ll be grateful!
What I want to know, though, is who is going to pay 30,000 Avios EACH WAY to fly First between NYC and BOS!
(I do have a Qatar First booked for next month between Abu Dhabi and Doha, a similar flight. But Qatar First on short haul is not AA First on short haul ….. and it cost me 18,000 Avios out of 2 million.)
With the US hub system adding 7.5k per segments becomes a big issue. Some may have to pay 15k+ instead of 9k+ to get to the final destination.
Heard of the Avios thing, that sucks; however it is still an “ok” deal @7,500. Just got an email on Bluebird, looks like that is slowly going to absolve too. Bleh.
