Ok, this reddit thread moved me 🙂  “High-horse morons who guilt trip you about churning“…We have all been there lol.

Well, that double dip Sears gift card thingie may also be dead. WTF is going around here? When is this going to end? (HT: Frequent Miler).

Man gets $60,000 Emirates Flight With Frequent Flyer Miles loophole” —–> Classic click bait headline! If I had a dollar for every Emirates First Class, showers and all, trip report I have seen. But getting someone new and then blogging all about it to show “friends and family” how to travel for free and how you can do it too….really gets on my nerves. To newbies: It’s not a really big deal, there are so many sites out there now with amateurs ruining The Hobby. Serenity now…repeatedly!

18 Unusual Museums Worth Traveling To, another AFAR list. Must bookmark imho.

The Dervishes of Kosovo. Great read and shocking images of S&M 🙂

If you ever wondered about individual bonds vs bond funds, it follows my thinking.

Images that will make you go outdoors…now!

Nambé Pueblo The Eight Northern Pueblos of New Mexico are groups of Tiwa- and Tewa-speaking peoples who reside in the same communities their ancestors did hundreds of years ago, sometimes in the same multi-story adobe structures. Nambé is one of these pueblos, about 20 miles due north of Santa Fe. It’s worth the short detour off US-84 to check out the waterfall and hiking trails here in the Sangre de Cristo foothills. Well, since we started with people piercing themselves with sharp objects, why don’t we continue the same theme with pictures from a festival in Thailand dedicated to doing exactly that. I always thought people doing that must be super high or something!

The festival is celebrated all over south-east Asia and has become a huge tourist attraction, pulling in thousands of extra visitors to Phuket and other areas every year.

Ok, enough about pain. How about some cute baby animals to soften us all up?

    1. (I wasn’t done, just wanted to submit in case someone beat me for first. It has happened.)

I want to clarify something you’ve been getting a bee in your bonnet about: asking questions at the end of blog posts. While it can be a tactic, a few of us genuinely want to know what our readers are thinking.

      That is all.

      1. Maybe that’s the case for you. For the punters, it’s a cheap way to generate comments and pretend they give a crap about what the commenters have to say.

  1. The part where he says “I’ve flown on other airlines’ First Class seats before” – just doesn’t go with his reaction to the lounges, the service, the gate experience, etc. 🙂 Unless it was domestic first class, of course!

    1. Well he must have been on a ton of first class flights because he has that extensive trip report collection of…oh…just that trip.

    1. @David – As a blogger who has written about it, I don’t apologize for teaching others about this. This was not some loophole or “secret” redemption method. It was a published award redemption method. Not only that, but look at what British Airways has done as of late. Not only did they make a devaluation this year that left the economy option alone but they have the most lucrative credit card offer out there in pure bonus numbers – 100,000 points!
It was just like Delta – by putting so many miles/points in play, they had to make adjustments. Am I happy with it? Absolutely not! Did anyone NOT expect this to happen at some point? Only if they didn’t know about the history of miles and points.

      1. Let me fix that
“As a blogger who has written about it, I don’t apologize for SELLING others about this”
Bloggers rarely “teach” readers about point inflation. I have yet to see inflation incorporated in the sales message.

        1. Frankly, I can’t believe this lasted so long! And I think it was AA’s Parker who forced the issue…

Bloggers get compensated very well per credit card app. I know when I compare it to my Amazon revenue lol. One old Titan has been once said: “It’s all about conversions”.

I am going to be the only one advocating it is time to find a new hobby 🙂

  2. Hey, just noticed Jamison slowed/quit blogging at Points Summary.

I wanted to go alert him that the Orbitz BRG has dropped in value $50 per level, but it doesn’t look like he’s updated in a while. Too bad; seems like a nice guy and had interesting perspectives.

      1. anyone knows what he does for a living? I like his blog and enjoy reading it but it amazes me how he seems to be off traveling pretty much all the time without a job of any kind, AND without making any (or much) money off his blog.

    1. “Still, with travel starting at 7.5K Avios with no close-in fees and just $5.60 in cancellation fees, Avios travel remains a bargain for domestic flights.”

It just doesn’t feel that way.

        1. It’s 7,500 Avios, still nothing! And no tax! And no close-in fees.

When you’re next quoted $200 for NYC-BOS with 48 hours notice, you’ll be grateful!

What I want to know, though, is who is going to pay 30,000 Avios EACH WAY to fly First between NYC and BOS!

(I do have a Qatar First booked for next month between Abu Dhabi and Doha, a similar flight. But Qatar First on short haul is not AA First on short haul ….. and it cost me 18,000 Avios out of 2 million.)

          1. With the US hub system adding 7.5k per segments becomes a big issue. Some may have to pay 15k+ instead of 9k+ to get to the final destination.

  3. Heard of the Avios thing, that sucks; however it is still an “ok” deal @7,500. Just got an email on Bluebird, looks like that is slowly going to absolve too. Bleh.

      1. It’s like a horror show out there…a perpetual Halloween!

To add so much insult to the spectacular injury today I received by snail mail a preapproved offer for, please sit down, the Best Western Rewards card with, please contain your enthusiasm:

0% APR until May 2016 and
        Gold Elite status

Get out while I stab myself lol.

  4. Best line of the AS redemption – “It was by far the best muesli I’ve ever had.” Totes McGotes.
