AAdvantage Aviator Cards, Airlines We Lost, Chase CPC Warning

We bring you a guide to the AAdvantage Aviator Cards, mourn over the airlines we lost in 2016, bring you a Chase CPC warning, bring you an AA 50k card offer that appears wide open to all, show you how I hacked my way to San Diego for a conference, news how La Guardia will change, inspire you with a touching story about a rich Canadian who is changing the life of Syrian refugees, travel to Dubai and if you are crazy enough travel on Siberia’s “Ice Highway” and I think that’s it.

It appears a Citi American Airlines 50,000 mile credit card offer was spotted WITHOUT the restrictive 24 month language policy restricting most of us from getting another 50k AA miles. Not sure if this was an oversight and Citi will apply the hammer. So proceed at your own risk. This is the type of offer that does NOT compensate bloggers so do not expect these blogs to even mention it, they are too busy selling plastic!

Getting to be pretty hard to keep track of all the AA credit card offers out there now with Barclays issuing their own “Aviator” cards. Here is a reference post if you wanted to distinguish between them: AAdvantage Aviator Red vs. Aviator Silver.

I had an expiring complimentary night at any Fairmont (as Lifetime Platinum President’s Club member) so I booked me in the 1,000 square feet Prado suite (using a complimentary Platinum suite upgrade) at the San Diego Fairmont Grand Del Mar property. I will be moving there after five nights at the San Diego Four Points by Sheraton (SPG award stay, fifth night free). I am attending a conference in early February and flying there on Southwest and paying with gift cards from airline credits. Oh, I got plenty of food certs and gift cards to use at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar as well. Oh, this travel hacking life is so hard sometimes 🙂

Airlines We Lost in 2016. There are quite a few and I did not fly a single one!

We are all aware of the utter embarrassment the La Guardia airport is. And we know it will be improved by 2022 after several billions are spent. And it sure sounds pretty good “float passengers over planes that actually move, too“.

I like to post inspiring things in my blog sometimes. This is an amazing story of a remarkable man who single handedly saved 200 Syrian refugees.

Secret Recording: A CFP at JPMorgan pushed high-priced products. You may want to read this (hope the pay firewall is not up!) about Chase Private Client. If you become a CPC client, just be aware that you will be a target for the bank staff to sell you stuff that will be good for them and certainly not you! You have been warned! Full disclosure: I am a CFP since 1995 and proud to be a fiduciary; many of us are NOT! I am so shocked this did not make into a blog post at The Points Guy. Ok you can lol with me!

The harrowing life of a truck driver in Siberia’s “ice highway”. Yikes! I just turned up the heat in my house because I got cold reading this…

At the halfway point, they arrived at the Indigirka River. "Once frozen, the river serves as a kind of magic carpet, allowing access to areas of the Sakha Republic virtually impossible to see any other way," Chapple writes for Radio Free Europe.

The opposite of Aleppo in the Middle East? It has to be Dubai and its new $2.8 billion theme park. It looks, well, like Disney or something.

The park was opened by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

And I leave you with this…

        1. doesn’t it look like FM is (wants to be) going to be sold soon………………………………. just reading between the lines here, gotta keep up with the Branson’s and the Kelly’s

            1. I agree about the too soon sale but I think MMS is the better analogy.

I have seen many cases where the innovative guy starting a new venture doesn’t have the skills or confidence to take it to the next level. Whatever we think of them, MMS and TPG know how to sell snake oil on a wide canvas.

Ingy was a clever operator in his little world back then but I’m not sure he would have done well moving up a level or two.

Still, if he had hung around until MS kicked in, my guess is that he would have done a lot better.

              1. Yep…sold too soon. Waiting for him to deny it and…give us an update on the Alexa rankings.

Just saw a ridiculous add on Twitter for TPG on my phone, he is everywhere! Must keep selling to…pay the Devil’s Advocate salary I guess.

  1. Tres. I was approved for that AA card last night after seeing it on rapid travel chai. Earlier this year I was a little bit done with Citi and closed a prestige, premier, business preferred, and an AAdvantage platinum. I was going to go for the aviator silver with your links and couldn’t find it.

    1. Let us know either way if you get the 50k miles or not. The reddit thread is up to 350 posts and counting…I think you are good…but, you know, it is Citi we are talking about here!

I do not think the Aviator cards are available with my links. Probably because TPG managed an exclusive arrangement or something. I think his Alexa rankings are a little higher than mine….just a little lol.

      1. If amex sends me the platinum gift other people seem to be getting, I’ll ask it what Alexa rankings are and how to raise them. You’re welcome in advance…

    1. No.

Got way too many AA miles I have a really hard time burning lately…I should probably focus on burning so I can hit the 1 million mark for a third year in a row….am 200k away from it right now!

  2. Mile Cards Barclay AA post leaves off some new info about those cards with EQD possibilities. Just left a comment over there too.

  3. My CPC advisor was so full of shit about all the “special products that Chase had available only to CPCs”. I could only practice my Serenity Now mantra while she tried to sell me on that.

I dumped CPC just as soon as I got all Arts and Culture cards from them.

    Not advisors!…salesmen!!!

    1. Exactly!

The blog troll says I only provide links. I do with the best commentary/advice along with it. Why make an ass of myself pretending I am excited by an Amex offer or a gift card deal or yet another credit card pump…just tell readers what they should hear in a few sentences and move on.

  4. “Being a truck driver on Siberia’s ‘ice highway’ is one of the most dangerous jobs in Russia”

Another job that won’t be around in 50-100 years.
    Trump will fix this.
